We all know we are in a hard times and that the City of Las Vegas needs more visitors to climb out of this recession and create more jobs, but does this new law, that was published in the Las Vegas Review Journal, targeting international travelers, mean that Las Vegas will encounter more bed bug infestations? It just may. Research done by Michael F. Potter, Extension Entomologist at the University of Kentucky, states that part of the blame of the recent resurgence of bed bugs is due to international travel. Under the legislation, signed into
law Thursday by President Barack Obama, a program will be created that
will allow the United States to advertise the country as a destination
for international travelers. It creates a public-private partnership
for travel promotion that is partly funded by a $10 fee paid by
international travelers. Let's hope that this new law will bring more international travelers to Las Vegas - but that they don't bring bed bugs with them!
